Maine Behavioral Healthcare (MBH) is seeking either a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join its expanding team located in Rockland, Maine. The ideal candidate will provide medical leadership to a multidisciplinary team within the MBH continuum of care. The provider will be responsible for initial evaluations, treatment planning, medication management, and other therapeutic interventions. There will be a significant orientation toward integration with the primary care services of MaineHealth.  This unique opportunity involves providing care to patients 18 years of age and older.

Position Summary

Under the direction of a physician or the Medical Director, the nurse practitioner provides primary medical care for outpatients with inpatient call responsibility. The nurse practitioner will provide face-to-face psychiatric evaluations, medication management and health care to patients. The nurse practitioner will manage their caseloads with supervision from the Regional Medical Director. The position includes developing and recording a plan for effective and timely treatment for patients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Master’s degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional medical training.
  • License/Certification: Current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner by the Maine State Board of Nursing and qualified to do psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Specific credentialing criteria needed if working in the hospital as defined by Medical Staff By-Laws.
  • Experience: 2+ year of patient care in a community mental health center or hospital is preferred.
  • Advanced skill and knowledge in conducting psychiatric evaluations and treating patients
