Western Maine Primary Care, a department of Stephens Memorial Hospital, is currently seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner to join our exceptional team of providers.  Now is a great time to join our team as we recently relocated our practice to our brand new, state-of-the-art medical office building. Come be a part of our dynamic team of providers, which includes eight family medicine physicians, six internists, and eight nurse practitioners, working with exceptional support staff.

We offer competitive salary and benefits and are a designated National Health Service Corps site which allow primary care providers to participate in additional competitive loan repayment programs through NHSC.  

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    1. Education: Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program with two years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred. MSN required.
    2. License/Certifications: Active Nursing license; certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Newly licensed Nurse Practitioners within the State of Maine must, for 24 months, practice under the supervision of a physician or other Nurse Practitioner acting within their Scope of Practice (32 M.R.S.A. Section 2102, 2-A). Current BCLS required.

    4. Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure and functions; and community resources
    5. Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information
    6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff
    7. Skill in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination
    8. Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results
    9. Ability to respond the changing workload based on patient census
    10. Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations
    11. Proficient computer skills
