Maine Medical Partners Neurology has an immediate full-time opening for a BC/BE adult neurologist with fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology. The appropriate candidate would join our well-established neurology division which consists of 23 physicians, including 5 Pediatric Neurologists, and 9 Advanced Practice Providers, with on-site MRI and neurodiagnostic lab. The Neurology group has been the premiere site for neurology care in Maine since 1988.  The practice works closely with our Neuroscience Institute to further develop Neuroscience Centers of Excellence in support of our multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular, stroke, epilepsy, and movement disorders programs. Research interests are supported through Maine Medical Center Research Institute.

Our center has been recognized by the National MS Society as a Comprehensive MS Care Center since 2014, and is the only one in the state of Maine with this recognition. We are a member of the Consortium of MS Centers. Our center consists of 2 MS specialists, 1 nurse practitioner, 2 specialty nurses and 2 medical assistants. We focus on providing patients with respectful, attentive care whether their diagnosis is multiple sclerosis, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, neuromyelitis optica or any other autoimmune, inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system. In addition, we collaborate closely with the Maine Medical Center outpatient infusion center and with the New England Rehabilitation Hospital to provide comprehensive care to our patients. Our MS program includes a comprehensive/multidisciplinary clinic, and we are participating in several clinical trials. There is an on-site 1.5 T MRI, but other sites are available for imaging needs including a 3 T MRI at Maine Medical Center.

Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and integration with Tufts University Medical School.   Candidate will have the opportunity to teach Neurology residents, residents and fellows from other departments, and medical students. Hospital admission service, stroke and telestroke management, and after-hours phone call coverage is provided by a team of dedicated Neurohospitalists.  Inpatient coverage is limited to an equitable share of coverage on the consult service 4-5 weeks per year.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high-quality team of 600+ physicians and 350+ advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital-based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
