Family Nurse Practitioner

Portland, ME

Maine Medical Partners, a MaineHealth member, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with at least two year of experience to work in a busy Outpatient Residency clinic located at Maine Medical Center.  In this role, Nurse Practitioners are responsible for a panel of adult patients only as well as resident panel support.

This Clinic is the primary teaching outpatient site for Maine Medical Center's Internal Medicine Residency Program and works with a team care approach.  The Internal Medicine Clinic is the patient centered medical home for a culturally diverse population, with many varied social determinants of health.  Candidates will need to work well in a team environment, relate effectively with culturally diverse patients, and possess strong clinical skills.  The ideal candidate will have an interest in international/immigrant patient care.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional specialized medical training, in order to provide expanded nursing practice
  • Current license and registration, or eligible to receive, in order to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse as required in the State of Maine.
  • Advanced skill and knowledge in conducting physical examinations and treating patients in expanded practice model with minimal direction at a level generally acquired through two to three years in-depth experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, prepare complex treatment plans, and treat assigned patients with minimal guidance and direction.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a variety of personnel (e.g., patients, employees, physicians, and other health care professionals).
