Advanced Practice Provider - Nephrology

Location: Portland, ME

Schedule: Full Time – 40 hours week – Salaried

MMP Nephrology is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our established team of Advanced Practice Professionals. The primary responsibilities will be to care for chronic kidney disease patients in an office setting, rounding on patients in dialysis units, and provide hospital coverage with occasional night or weekend call.  There is also an option to work a (4 x 10) schedule of weekends plus two weekdays if desired.

The candidate we seek is a motivated individual with excellent communication and problem solving skills, who also has the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience providing healthcare education to patients and families. We are looking for a professional who has worked in a clinical office and/or hospital setting, preferably caring for patients with chronic disease.

 The successful APP candidate also:

  • Maintains legible, accurate, timely, and confidential medical records.
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
  • Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Exhibits knowledge of evaluation and management (E&M) coding guidelines and demonstrates appropriate application of same.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, personnel and all other policies and procedures.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements necessary for licensure and certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
    • Successful completion of accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
    • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
    • Current BLS certification.
