Sanford Family Medicine is seeking a part-time (32 hours/week) experienced PMHNP to join our Primary Care team in Sanford, Maine. There is flexibility in the location and the position could be based in Saco or Kennebunk as well.  Join us, and you will find supportive, collaborative colleagues; strong patient/provider relationships; comprehensive resources and advanced technologies, including fully integrated Epic EMR.  In this Primary Care practice, the clients’ biopsychosocial information is added to one integrated medical record. This supports communication within the team and optimizes care.

This opportunity is ideal for someone interested in providing highly valued psychiatry services within a medical team, as well as the larger Behavioral Health Integration program where education, training, consultation and comraderie are part of the job.

The Maine Behavioral Health Integrated program is one of the largest in the nation, with approximately 40 clinicians providing care at over 50 primary care locations and almost 10 specialty offices throughout Maine.

Desired Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a PMHNP
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a PMHNP in an integrated setting 
  • Experience in a primary care or outpatient medical practice setting preferred 
  • Ability to attain (or be currently licensed as) an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License in the State of Maine

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Integrated care for clients on a primary care team 
  • Psychiatric evaluations 
  • Medication management 
  • Consultation to the primary care team

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford - a 40 bed, locked unit that provides a 24-hour treatment program designed to provide care for adults ages 18-95 in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction-related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care. A team of mental health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth. The team includes nursing, psychiatry, social work and case management. Programming on the mental health unit includes daily clinical groups in CBT and DBT, a therapeutic milieu, art therapy, medication management, and recreational activities.
