Maine Medical Partners-MaineHealth Cardiology is currently seeking an Electrophysiologist to join their practice in the greater Portland, Maine area.  The preferred candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease with advanced training in Electrophysiology. 

Maine Medical Partners-MaineHealth Cardiology is a growing practice of over 50 cardiologists including 7 adult electrophysiologists with locations in Augusta, Lewiston, Rockport, Scarborough, and Waterville. This integrated practice works closely with Maine Medical Center and other regional hospitals and practices to build a coordinated network of care. Long recognized as a leader in cardiac care, The Maine Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute (www.mmc.org/cardiovascular) remains on the forefront of today’s most advanced treatments and procedures, and has been recognized as one of the top 100 programs in the United States.  We are pleased to share that the hospital is in the process of building a five-story patient care tower dedicated to cardiovascular excellence. It will be home to 19 new procedure rooms, including several hybrid ORs, as well as 64 new private patient rooms. The building is scheduled to open in early 2023.  

The Cardiovascular Institute offers extensive and highly advanced Electrophysiology (EP) resources for diagnosis and treatment, and greater EP volume than any other hospital in Maine, performing more than 1,900 procedures a year. The program has developed expertise in managing complex arrhythmias, particularly the treatment of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, with excellent patient outcomes.  MMC has also been, and continues to be, involved in multi-center clinical trials, participating in multiple major of drugs, devices, and therapies. 

The position involves a direct teaching role with Maine Medical Center’s Cardiology Fellows, as well as teaching and mentoring medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program. The candidate will have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.  

Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships. Long recognized as a leader in cardiac care.  This comprehensive program provides the highest level of expertise and leading edge technology, such that patients don’t need to leave the state for quality heart care.  Electrophysiologists attend clinics and perform procedures at clinics and affiliate hospitals within the MaineHealth network.
