Maine Medical Partners Surgical Care is seeking a fellowship trained breast surgical oncologist, or a surgeon with a dedicated breast health practice, to join their well-established MaineHealth Network, the largest healthcare organization in Maine and a leading healthcare provider in northern New Hampshire.

The ideal candidate would have interest in benign and malignant breast pathology.  The breast oncology program at MaineHealth, as part of the recently launched statewide oncology program – the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, is expanding in order to provide a high-level of care close to home for patients.  The ideal candidate would have an interest in joining a well-established, high quality breast care practice at the network’s “hub”, Maine Medical Center (Portland/Scarborough), in addition to being able to lead program growth at a nearby network member, Southern Maine Health Care (Biddeford).

The largest hospital in network is Maine Medical Center (MMC) with 637 licensed beds.  It is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital, with full complement ACGME approved residencies and fellowships. Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) is a member site in the MaineHealth system housing 150 licensed beds. The Breast Care Center at SMHC is located in an outpatient setting in Biddeford within close proximity to the main hospital.

The Breast Care Center for Maine Medical Center is situated on the Scarborough Campus 10 minutes from Portland.  The Scarborough Campus encompasses the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute, Maine Medical Center Research Institute and Scarborough Surgery Center providing a comprehensive and supportive outpatient setting for our breast care patients and providers.

The designated candidate would be hired by Maine Medical Partners (MMP).  Maine Medical Partners is Maine's largest multi-specialty medical group comprised of 600 physicians and 350 advanced practice professionals. Candidates are expected to be Board Certified/Eligible in general surgery, having completed a residency in general surgery and preferably a breast surgical oncology or surgical oncology fellowship accredited by the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Both Maine Medical Center and Southern Maine Health Care are situated on the southern Maine coast just 15 miles apart. This is a highly sought after residential location with vibrant communities.   Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.
