BC/BE Physician - Hospitalist - Per Diem

Farmington, Maine
 
Franklin Memorial Hospital is seeking a BC/BE Physician - Hospitalist in Farmington, ME.   The successful candidate will join our current highly-skilled Hospitalist team of physicians and nurse practitioners.  The Hospitalists service has a daily census of 15-24 patients.  The schedule is generally organized in blocks of 5-7 days at a time and will generally alternate day time shifts (6 am to 6 pm) with night time shifts (6 pm to 6 am).  The Hospital Medicine Service admits and cares for patients with a range of medical diagnoses.  In addition, when appropriate, the team will admit and medically manage orthopedic and surgical patients in consultation with those specialties.  Preoperative and ED consultative services are provided.  Our Hospitalists also provide critical care, including ventilator management, for a 5 bed intensive care unit. The ability to perform procedures including intubation, central line placement, lumbar puncture, paracentesis and thoracentesis is preferred.

Farmington, Maine is a rural college town, an hour and a half north of Portland and home to the University of Maine at Farmington, one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation.  The area is within an hour drive of three ski resorts and offers four seasons of outdoor recreation with many lakes, rivers and streams as well as hills and mountains. The area’s progressive medical staff affords excellent colleague interaction and referral relationships.

This position offers teaching opportunities of medical students, as Franklin Memorial Hospital, a member of MaineHealth, is one of the teaching sites for the Maine Medical Center – Tufts University Medical School program.
