Position Summary
-
The Hospitalist Service Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) also known as Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides patient care services under the supervision of the Hospitalist Physician or Special Care Unit attending physician. This involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with a variety of complex conditions in the hospital setting. The Hospitalist APP is expected to comply with all pertinent treatment policies, evidence-based care bundles, and clinical order sets, as well as all applicable hospital-wide policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Successful completion of an approved Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant with a Master’s Degree level of education is preferred.

License/Certifications: Current license issued by the State of Maine as Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with SMHC supervising physician required. Current certification as ACNP/PA required. BLS certification is required.

Experience: Three or more years of experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.
